Players who are not selected for the U14 squads will be offered games in the U14 mixed team in the Greater Manchester Junior Hockey league (GMJHL) and in the NW Tier 3 Festivals on 2 November and 1 March.

All players have an opportunity to play on Saturdays – either in junior friendly games or in adult leagues.

Year 9 girls tend to move into adult league squads while boys stay in Junior friendly squads a little longer and gradually transition when ready and space is available. All others in years 7 – 9 take part in friendly Junior friendly matches as part of the ‘North West Consortium’. These are friendly development fixtures against other clubs and while generally for players in years 7-9, some year 6 or year 10s may also be part of the squads if appropriate.

We have four teams: one in the U15s age group ‘Badgers’ league, two in the U13 age group ‘Beavers’ league and one in the U12 ‘Otters’ league. These matches are 11 a side full pitch and usually involve mixed teams. Players are distributed across squads; we have over 80 players to accommodate and availability can vary greatly week to week, so we give careful consideration to ability, confidence, commitment, peer group, gender balance as well as age. We rely on parent volunteers to coach, manage and umpire games so help is always welcome to enable games to happen. Matches are usually between 12.30 – 4.30pm home and away across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

We enter teams for U8, U10, U12 and U14 into the GMJHL each year which is held at the Manchester University Armitage Centre. The aim of these is to enjoy playing semi-competitively and build experience. They are all split into boys and girls except the U8s and U14s competitions which are mixed. Dates are listed below and are generally 1 – 3pm or 3 – 5pm. Lead co-ordinator for this is James McCann.
