With an impressive 16 wins, 3 draws and only one loss all season the Men’s 1st team, led by Captain Sam Cooke, have comfortably secured their promotion to the Premier League next year. Finishing 8 points clear ahead of strong competitors Loughborough, Brooklands and Durham demonstrates the team’s consistency and dominance throughout the campaign. It speaks volumes about the hard work and determination of the players and coaching staff involved.
And so, we proudly wrap up this season for the newly promoted M1s with some words from our Head Coach, Simon Egerton:
‘The whole squad and management is buzzing at the moment. Getting promoted at home with two games still to play was an amazing day for everyone associated with Bowdon. It was great to see so many people down supporting us.
This season has been a culmination of a lot of hard work by the squad, but also so many amazing club members in the background. We challenge each other every training session, dedicate a lot of time, and in doing so have built a fantastic culture that is proud to represent Bowdon. We’ve used 26 players, which is the most we’ve used in a season before. They’ve all worked incredibly hard, but most importantly, had a great time while doing it.
We’re looking forward to the Premier League, we know it’s going to be tough, but it’s a challenge we’re well up for.’
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of coaches, staff and volunteers – assistant coach Dom Maguire, Managers Bill Ball and John Dixon, filming and streaming of matches by Jasper Kuijper and supplementary equipment supplied by Consensus Workplace Ltd. A huge thank you, as always, goes to our sponsors McAuliffe, W. Howard and Price, Slater, Gawne. The commitment of our sponsors at this level cannot be underestimated and their continued support in the 2024/25 season into the Premier League is greatly appreciated.
The achievement doesn’t stop there.
In all of the other Men’s leagues, many of the teams have had an incredibly strong season – the Men’s 3s and 6s are both at the top of their leagues and also close to securing promotions, if our final game goes well. It has been a fantastic season for all across our Men’s section, giving us a huge amount to look forward to.
End of season round up to follow…
The club as a whole has had some incredible achievements for Mens, Womens and Juniors including a European spot still potentially up for grabs for our Women’s 1st XI. With a couple of games left to play to the end of the season, we will have final results to follow for all sections in the end of season round up!
